Multiplication & Division Games!

In Math Workshop, students used a key to help them show and solve multi-step problems.  Additionally students visited stations where they worked on addition and subtraction with regrouping and the multiplication and division fluency.  If your child prefers to play games on the computer to practice their fluency, here is a great link:  Math Man!  Be sure to check the "Educational Links" tab for new games!  Thank you for your continued support to help the kids memorize their math facts.

In Readers' Workshop, students used the comparing matrix to compare authors' main ideas to their own thinking and point of view.

In Writers' Workshop, students learned to "put first things first" when writing and revising.  Specifically, students learned to chunk their writing into paragraphs to help them organize their thinking and writing.

In Social Studies, students learned 3 new economic terms:  scarcity, limited goods, and limited resources.  We used these words to help us write and explain core economic phenomenons.

Due to PARCC (the test replacing the MSA), our staff is spread thin; therefore, for the next month or two, we will not be having "Beaver Block".  Instead, our class will use this time to engage in "Number Talks" and explicit vocabulary instruction.
