In Writers' Workshop, noticed and named how authors from Should There Be Zoos? hooked their readers in their opinion essays. They then applied this strategy to their SeaWorld writing on a "Try It" page.
In Word Study, students learned 3 new vocabulary words: melonchalic, skittish, and wise. Have your child identify a person or character who has one of these character traits. Encourage them to use evidence to explain their thinking.
In Readers' Workshop, students applied their thinking about symbolism and close reading of text to make claims and defend their claims with text-based evidence.
In Science, students used "Compass Points", a visible thinking note taking strategy, to focus their new learning about Earth's lithosphere and the formation of continents.
Students visited Reading Beaver Block today.
