Edline is up and running. I have inputted grades and they should be posted. Please note, I will only be posting on district "post days". The following dates are post days for the second quarter: November 21, December 12, January 16, January 23.
Grading:
- Math homework will be "chunk-ed" per week. Students will receive a grade out of 100 which includes all homework from that week. If your child has a check on their homework, that indicates they received full credit. Partial credit will be marked on homework as "partial credit". In other words, if your child is completing their homework consistently, they should be receiving full credit.
- All other grade descriptions are indicated on Edline. Many grades are notebook checks (i.e. if your child is completing class work) or participation, as marked.
In Writers' Workshop, students posted their thinking about Ivan, the main character from our read aloud, The One and Only Ivan. We collaborated with a second grade class in Michigan (a class from the building I was in last year).
Students participated in a Word Study Challenge today. Students applied their knowledge of the long a letter patterns and relationships to spell words. These will be graded and sent home when students come back from Thanksgiving Break. I will also post these to Edline tonight.
Students took their Unit 3 Math Test today. Again, those grades will come home when students return from break.
Students visited Reading Beaver Block.
A note to family members who visited: Thank you so much for visiting our class. We so enjoyed you coming in and getting a feel for how are days run! Thank you so much for your interest and continued support!
Have a joyful and safe Thanksgiving! Please encourage your child to read their 20 minutes a day and practice math facts (subtraction, addition, multiplication 1's and 2's). If your child needs a little motivation to read, have them blog about what they read following their 20 minutes!
Homework:
- Read 20 minutes a day over break!
Reminders:
- No school for students next week.
Classroom Supplies: We are very short on sticky notes and dry erase markers! Any donations are really, really appreciated! I will purchase some as well.
- Dry erase markers
- Sticky Notes
Thank you,
Ms. Smith
