Parts and Totals

In Math Workshop today, students used their understanding of clue words to help them make sense of and solve real world problems.  Students have homework coming home today, due tomorrow.

In Writers' Workshop, students learned how to use transition words to help their writing "flow" as time passes.  See a few snapshots from Writers' Workshop below.

In Word Study, students closely analyzed 3 lists of words.  They noted the sounds and letter patterns they noticed.

In Readers' Workshop, students took on more responsibility regarding paying attention to characters' responses to challenges.  They applied this comprehension strategy during independent practice to help them infer and grow ideas about characters.

In Social Studies, students continued to work on their projects that will represent their thinking and learning about key democratic principles.
