Math Homework

In Readers' Workshop, students learned how to use the author's precise words to help them get a "mental movie" going in their minds.  Tonight when your child is reading, ask them to identify a part in their books where their mental movies were strong.  Ask them what words helped them make this picture.

In Writers' Workshop, students described the writing process as well as learned strategies to help them decide on ideas when they're in the pre-writing stage.

In Math Workshop, students used what they knew about place value to create and explain pattern rules. Students have homework coming home today, due tomorrow.  Again, please note, if your child has given the homework 30 solid minutes of effort, simply write me a note at the top of their page and I will work with them individually in the morning.

In Word Study, students noticed how words are grouped to help them identify similarities in spelling patterns and meaning.

In Social Studies, students used what they knew about rules and laws to explain the common good and its implications on society.

In Read Aloud, students learned to walk in the character's shoes to help them infer how and what characters feel, experience, and think.

Homework:
  • Math homework due tomorrow
  • Read 20 minutes
Reminders:
  • Blog permission slip due Friday, September 5.
  • Please note that I will be checking planners for signatures tomorrow (and every Friday).  Please make sure you have signed your child's planner.  Thank you!

Thank you,

Ms. Smith
